Managerspeak for driving a workforce toward change by shredding the system they are familiar with, i.e. burning the platform upon which they are standing. Supposedly the saying derives from the Piper Alpha oil rig disaster in 1988. As the rig burned, workers had the choice of either remaining on the platform that was going up in flames or jumping into the North Sea.
